  • IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE

Good veterinary care begins with keeping healthy pets healthy.  We celebrate the unique bond that exists between people and their pets and our goal is to enhance that bond by staying ahead of problems that threaten your pet.  We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm, flea and tick control; vaccination program; spay and neuter package; and specialized laboratory tests for all life stages. Dr's. Leck and Haas and our trained staff will answer all your questions and address your concerns during your wellness visit.  We have an extensive library of literature available to help ensure that you understand any issues related to your pet.

  • DENTAL CARE

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.  Good dental care may be the single most significant step you can take to ensure your pet's good health and longevity.

  • PAIN MANAGEMENT

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care.

  • RADIOLOGY

Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.

  • ULTRASOUND

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.

  • BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE

Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We will help determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety, obsessive behavior, and inappropriate aggression and then develop a treatment regimen for your pet.  After a thorough  examination we will address any physical abnormalities that may be contributing to your pet's problem.  We then engage in an extended consultation, preferably with several family members, to help elucidate the factors involved.  We will institute behavior modification techniques and work with you in an ongoing basis to facilitate improvement in your pet.  Pharmacologic agents are prescribed if they are warranted as part of the treatment plan.  It must be understood that not all behavior problems lend themselves to a "cure".  But, with proper therapy, very satisfactory control can be achieved in a majority of cases.

Please call with any questions you may have regarding your pet's behavior problem.  We will arrange a preliminary examination and ask you to complete a questionnaire to provide information important in arriving at an accurate behavioral diagnosis.

  • MICROCHIPPING

Simple, inexpensive and foolproof, microchip identifiers tremendously increase the likelihood that a lost pet will be returned to the rightful owner.  AVH uses the universally recognized HomeAgain Microchip technology.  HomeAgain chips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania now accepts microchip identifiers for issuance of a lifetime license.  This eliminates the hassle of yearly renewal and avoids far more cumbersome tatooing.  We will help you complete the paperwork required so that your pet can be licensed for life in no time.

The micochip is a bead-shaped device, about the size of a grain of rice, that we implant under your pet's skin.  The process is no more painful than a routine vaccination and just as quick.  With the chip in place, your pet will be recognized at nearly any animal shelter across the U.S.  A scanning device passed over your dog brings up a special code that identifies your pet and only your pet.

Absolutely safe for use in dogs, cats and ferrets.

  • GROOMING

Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor – your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Services also include nail trim and ear cleaning.

Jennifer and Denise our groomers, both have years of experience aims to give your pet the look you want.  When you call, ask for grooming  to set up your appointment.

Is your pet fearful for bathing?  Has she had bad experiences previously?  Because a veterinarian is on the premesis, your pet can be examined at your request and a safe, effective tranquilizer can be given to minimize the fear factor.  Just request this service when you make an appointment.  Your pet is never tranquilized without your expressed request and a thorough veterinary examination.
